Oman Air launches first flights to Iraq

Starting on September 15, 2016, Oman Air will begin flights from Muscat, Oman to Najaf, in Iraq with four weekly flights.  Najaf is located in central Iraq and is roughly 100 miles south of Baghdad.  This is Oman Air’s first destination in Iraq, and the carrier will operate the flights aboard Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Flights will depart Muscat International Airport at 14.30 and arrive at Najaf International Airport at 16.35. Return flights will depart Najaf International Airport at 19.50 and arrive in Muscat at 23.40 (all times quoted are local).

Following the launch of the new route, Oman Air’s network will include 51 destinations in 28 countries. It is anticipated that the network will include 75 destinations by 2020. Oman Air’s network expansion programme runs in parallel to a major fleet expansion programme. This has seen the addition of Airbus A330, Boeing 737 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to the airline’s fleet strength and will see Oman Air operate 70 aircraft by 2020.

Tickets for the new services are bookable through www.omanair.com.  Prices start from RO 186 for a return economy seat to Najaf (approx. $483 or £370). Details on the numbers of miles it will cost for reward flights and upgrades through the airlines Sindbad frequent flyer scheme will follow shortly.
