Double miles and 10% discounts available to Norwegian Air frequent flyer members

Members of Norwegian Air’s loyalty program, Norwegian Reward, can now earn double air miles (known as CashPoints in the Norwegian Air loyalty scheme) when they book travel activities on GetYourGuide (GYG), the travel activity booking website.

CashPoints works differently to most frequent flyer programs because points are not based on miles flown but on the cost of the flight, hotel or car rental. The points can be used to pay for not just flight tickets (full or partial payment) but also extra luggage, cancellation insurance, seat reservations or ticket changes. CashPoints are calculated from the net ticket value (excl. taxes, charges and optional in NOK where 1 CashPoints = 1 NOK). The value is based on the current exchange rate. So, for example, if you book a £22 guided tour of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona you would earn 1 CashPoint = 1 NOK – (£22 = 240 NOK), so you would receive around 24 CashPoints.

To mark the new partnership, Norwegian and GYG is also offering all passengers using Norwegian’s inflight Wi-Fi the opportunity to receive a 10% discount on any activity booked by October 6, 2016. Reward members can then spend their CashPoints on any Norwegian flight. When passengers connect to Norweigan’s inflight Wi-Fi there will be a GYG section on the portal where you can watch videos about particular destinations and enter your email address for recommendations. If you do this, you will receive an email at your destination with the discounted offers.

CashPoints remain valid until the end of the year you made your purchase plus an additional two years. You earn points on all flight tickets with Norwegian, except group bookings. Be careful when trying to gain points when you upgrade. When upgrading to premium economy (there are only two classes on the airline, economy and premium economy) on the airline website, you will earn CashPoints for the net price difference. However, when upgrading at the ticket desk at the airport, a fixed fee will be charged and CashPoints will not be accumulated. You cannot earn CashPoints on charter tickets.
