Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah hotel launch Istanbul literary festival
Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah, Istanbul’s iconic hotel, has announced the return of the world renowned crime and literary festival, Black Week. This year’s festival will take place from November 16–18 and will be themed around James Bond in honour of Ian Fleming, who famously stayed at the hotel in 1955.
Guests who book the Black Week package can brush up their knowledge on classic mystery novels and crime writing through a series of talks, panel discussions and events with world-famous local and international detective novel writers and actors. Special guests this year include best-selling British crime writer and James Bond continuation novellist, Anthony Horowitz; British actor and author of the Young Bond series, Charlie Higson; and Turkey’s very own detective and mystery writer, Ahmet Umit.
Bond fans are invited to an exclusive opening ceremony of the festival and there’s the opportunity to stay in an Ian Fleming themed room, decorated with objects from the legacy of the author and the unforgettable MI6 agent, James Bond.
Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah has played host to an impressive list of crime writers over its 125 year history. Alongside Ian Fleming, Agatha Christie is rumoured to have written her novel Murder On The Orient Express in Room 411, and Alfred Hitchcock also stayed at the hotel.
Situated in Istanbul’s vibrant Beyoglu district, Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah retains its heritage but provides guests with a modern touch, epitomising the cultural variety of cosmopolitan Istanbul. The well-appointed 115 rooms and suites retain the classic characteristics of the 19th century, with many suites inspired by the famous guests who once stayed at this property.
You can visit Black Week Festival from €120 per night with the Black Week Package which includes an invitation to the festival’s opening ceremony and all of the panel discussions. The package also includes breakfast in the Agatha Restaurant.
