Eva Air updates its frequent flyer programme
Taiwanese airline Eva Air has updated its frequent flyer programme. The programme, Infinity MileageLands, is part of the Star Alliance frequent flyer network of 28 airlines that offer the ability to earn and spend miles on each other’s flights. Some of the key changes:
- Silver upgrade: membership tier upgrade requirements to silver from green have been lowered to four flights and 30,000 miles. This means it is easier and quicker to become a silver member. Silver tier includes benefits like priority waitlist on fully booked flights; extra baggage allowance on EVA Air flights; access to EVA Air VIP lounge on international flights for member, companion and children under 12; priority reservations and standby on Star Alliance flights. There are four membership tiers: Green, Silver, Gold, Diamond.
- Renewal Mileage Bonus: All miles earned between the day after you meet the upgrade requirements of a card tier and the day before your new card tier takes effect will now count towards your first renewal. For example, if you are a green tier member that will officially upgrade to silver on December 1 but have already completed all of the upgrade requirements on November 15, then under the old policy, mileage earned between November 16 and November 30 would not count towards your renewal requirement. After the planned adjustments, however, the mileage earned during that time period will count towards the mileage for your next (first) renewal.
- Hertz discounts: from now to April 30, book a car with Hertz and pick it up by June 30 at participating locations in USA, Canada, Europe, Australia or New Zealand for 7 days or more and get one rental day free plus 1,000 frequent flyer miles. This is in additional to the 10% discount you get as an Infinity MileageLands member. To access the offer, book your car rental online at dedicated HERTZ website and quote CDP# 348046 and PC# 204084 with your Infinity MileageLands membership number during reservation.
- Earn miles with your credit card: Infinity MileageLands has a new partnership with Capital One credit cards that lets members redeem Capital One points (earned when you spend money with the card) for Infinity MileageLands award miles. Two Capital One points will equal 1.5 MileageLands miles. You can put those miles towards rewards like buying a 'free' flight or upgrading your cabin class.
