If you're flying in or out of the UK in the next few days, expect delays and cancellations

Flights have been cancelled and delays are expected after warnings of blizzard conditions set to sweep across the UK from today.

London's Heathrow Airport said airlines had pre-emptively cancelled 7% of its usual daily flights (around 100 departures and arrivals). The airport said without the cancellations it could not reschedule any flights delayed by the weather.

'Be aware' warnings are in place for many areas of the country until Saturday. Airports including Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast International and Belfast City airports are operating as normal so far, although it would be wise for travellers to monitor the situation closely over the next few days.

Frequent Flyers should remember they may be able to use their loyalty cards for priority check-in and lounge access, depending on the membership tier they have and class of travel booked.
