Qantas launches first non-stop flights between London and Australia

Qantas has confirmed it will become the only airline to operate non-stop passenger flights between London, UK and Perth, Australia when it launches the route in March 2018 on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Seats on the Perth-London flights will go on sale in April 2017 for the first services in March 2018. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners used on the route will carry 236 passengers across Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. The flight will take 17 hours and 9000miles (15,000km).

Qantas told Air Miles Expert that they haven’t agreed the Qantas Points or pricing details on the route yet. We will have details on how many frequent flights miles the flights will cost and earn through the Qantas Points program once the flights go on sale in 2017.

Before then, the first Qantas Dreamliner 787-9 flight will take off on December 15, 2017 from Melbourne to Los Angeles. It will be configured in the same manner as the Perth-London flight with 236 passengers in a three-class configuration and complement the daily Airbus A380 service already flying from Melbourne to Los Angeles. Operating six times per week, the Dreamliner will replace the 747 service that currently operates on this route alongside the A380. Tickets go on sale on Christmas Day 2016.
