UK frequent flyers hit by Miles & More credit card closure

Lufthansa has announced that they will be ending their partnership with Affiniture Cards Limited which allowed Star Alliance members to earn frequent flyer points by spending using the Diners Club or Mastercard charge card. It was one of the very few ways to earn star alliance loyalty points in the UK via Lufthansa’s Miles & More loyalty programme.

Up until now, you’ve been able to earn award miles using your Miles & More Credit Card. However, Affiniture Cards Limited (the credit card issuer, trading as Diners Club International) will no longer be participating in the Miles & More programme from early April 2021.

What does this mean for your award miles?

If you own a card you remain a member of the Miles & More programme but will no longer be able to earn award miles with your Miles & More Global Traveller Account issued by Affiniture Cards Limited.

The good news is that if you are not a status member, any award miles older than 36 months would start expiring as from 1 July 2021. But Miles & More is extending mileage protection until 31 December 2021. After this date, however, your award miles will start to expire.

Miles & More say they are currently looking for new options in the UK.
